In addition to being beautiful, kangaroo paw is an excellent, long-lasting cut flower and also attracts butterflies and hummingbirds into the garden. The plant's fantastic heat tolerance makes it a top pick for containers on sunny decks and patios in the North.
Kangaroo paw has almost grassy leaves and tall stems of flowers, so it's ideal for mixing in with more traditional mounding perennials to add a splash of texture. In container gardens, kangaroo paw is an excellent "thriller" plant and takes on the role of being a focal point wherever it's planted.
